Skydive wind tunnel development at Actiflow
Indoor skydiving is a fun way to discover the joy of human flight, without the risks and the stress of jumping out of an airplane. In order to fly and experience the real sensation of free fall, multiple gigantic fans are pushing the air through a large wind tunnel, reaching speeds of up to 300 km/h in the flight chamber.
For the development of our tunnel designs, we use our high-end expertise in aerospace technology, aerodynamic design, flow simulations, engineering, software development and control system design. During the years, we developed our own innovative solutions to reduce the noise and wake created at the door of the tunnel, and to reduce the minimum height of a wind tunnel.
We develop tunnels for private companies and investors, but we also work for suppliers of turn-key skydive facilities. We even work on the renovation of old tunnels, to bring their performance and cost efficiency to the current standards.

Our engineers and designers are specialized in aerodynamics. We develop customized wind tunnel designs based on our customer’s wishes and requirements, but we also work on the renovation of older tunnels to improve the airflow quality and reduce energy consumption.

How we work
Every customized wind tunnel or renovation project is different, but this is what you can expect from us:
Feasibility
Within a few weeks, we are able to judge the feasibility of a skydive wind tunnel (renovation) project, no matter the wish list in terms of dimensions, shape or location.
Design and construction
After 2 to 3 months, we have our tunnel design ready for final production engineering. For the realization of the tunnel, we can involve our network of partners and suppliers, but please feel free to build the tunnel with your own local construction partners, according to our drawings. You can even choose for a hybrid solution, where we deliver the most critical tunnel components like the fans and the glass, while you take care of all steel and concrete parts.
Tunnel control and monitoring software
After construction or renovation, we can offer you our tunnel control and monitoring software that enables the operator to control the tunnel fans in an easy and intuitive way. The software logs all operator control actions, fan settings and airspeed and temperature sensor data. As such, the software gives you great insight in all tunnel operations, energy consumption, etc., which can be used to optimize your workflow and reduce costs.

Standard vs. custom wind tunnel design
Why would you choose a standard design if you can have a custom design for about the same price? Specific locations, available footprints, height constraints or government regulations can require a tailored solution. But sometimes it is just nice not to copy your competitors.
